Dr. Shellock Quote:

Over a decade into practice now, I’ve really seen the spectrum of how great an impact I can make in the life of a patient dealing with neck or back pain.  I’ve gained a deeper appreciation of just how far-reaching the effects of painful spinal conditions can be in a patient’s life – affecting every aspect in a unique and personal way.  To that end, I want my patients to know that I will make every effort to understand exactly how their neck or back pain affects them as an individual and will personalize their treatment plan accordingly.  There are often many ways in which we can address a surgical problem and I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” model.  I tell patients routinely that I will do the least invasive procedure to best address their condition and will pursue motion-preservation whenever possible over fusion.”

Jessica Shellock, MD, is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at the Texas Back Institute.  Dr. Shellock specializes in treatment of degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine, with a particular emphasis on motion-preservation technology.  She is part of the Center for Disc Replacement at Texas Back Institute and has extensive experience with numerous disc replacement devices, having participated in a number of FDA studies evaluating new designs.  She strives to get her patients back to an active and pain-free lifestyle while trying to avoid spinal fusion whenever possible.

Dr. Shellock received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and went on to complete an orthopedic residency at the University of Florida.  She completed a spine fellowship at the Texas Back Institute in 2009 and has been part of the group since then.  She sees patients in the Plano and McKinney offices.
