Dr. Craig Lankford, Physiatrist at Texas Back Institute shares quick facts about spine injections.
- Did you know, some spine injections are done in the clinic, while others are done in an outpatient facility.
- Injections performed in the outpatient setting require x-ray guidance to maintain accurate placement of the injection.
- Some of the outpatient injections include: epidural injection, facet injections, and sacroiliac joint injections. Injections performed in the clinic are local injections such as a trigger point injection, or a tendon or bursitis injection.
- Patients can find long lasting relief from injections, while only about 10% of patients will go on to have spine surgery.
